Dr. Bob Buresh Receives PSA Distinguished Poultry Industry Career Award, Sponsored by USPOULTRY
Bob Buresh, Ph.D., received the 2026 Poultry Science Association (PSA) Distinguished Poultry Industry Career Award, sponsored by the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY). The honor recognizes outstanding contributions by an industry leader. As the award sponsor, USPOULTRY also makes an annual contribution to the PSA Foundation in the recipient's name.
"Dr. Buresh has devoted his career to advancing poultry nutrition while generously sharing his knowledge and leadership with our industry. His contributions have strengthened not only poultry production but also the organizations and professionals he has mentored along the way. We are pleased to recognize his remarkable career and lasting impact,” said Nath Morris, president of USPOULTRY.
After earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Poultry Science from Clemson University, Dr. Buresh completed his Ph.D. in Poultry Nutrition at the University of Florida in 1985. His professional journey included roles with Purina Mills and Eastern Minerals, followed by 18 years as a broiler and breeder nutritionist at Tyson Foods and another 18 years with Novus International.
Throughout his career, Dr. Buresh has made significant contributions to the advancement of poultry nutrition through both scientific research and technical outreach. He has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, technical publications and industry resources addressing broiler and breeder nutrition, trace mineral supplementation, feed efficiency, reproductive performance and practical nutritional strategies for commercial poultry production. His work has consistently bridged the gap between research and commercial application, providing poultry companies and nutritionists with science-based solutions that improve bird health, productivity and sustainability.
Beyond his professional career, Dr. Buresh has been an active mentor in the poultry industry, serving in leadership roles with the Southern Poultry Science Society, PSA, the World's Poultry Science Association and the Pacific Egg & Poultry Association. He also held an appointment as an adjunct professor at Clemson University. Following his recent retirement from Novus International, Dr. Buresh has continued to support the poultry industry through leadership in professional associations and his consulting firm, Palmetto Poultry Nutrition.
